Covid-19 Response Plan

  • I am monitoring and following the Nova Scotia Health Authority updates regularly.
  • I am following the rules of 3 bodies with response to Covid-19. My Canadian Dance Instructor Certification Affiliate in Canada (SDC: ScotDance Canada), NS Provincial Health Protocols for small business, and Sport/Art NS – which has included Dance Studios in their Covid mandate policies.
  • Only dancers are permitted into the Studio. Parents/guardians must remain outside. I have a pick up/drop off program in place – it will be emailed to parents.
  • Dancers should arrive dressed in their full dance attire. No changing at the Studio. No bare feet are allowed. Come dressed in slip on warm up gear that can easily be placed in your single bag to hang. One small bag is permitted containing dancer’s needs.
  • Water bottle must be labeled. Water bottles left at studio will be discarded if unlabelled.
  • Masks are mandatory to enter, exit and move around the Studio. Once dancers are in their space, if class size and rules allow, dancers can remove their mask and keep it in their space in their bag while dancing.
  • Class sizes are small with up to 8 dancers in each class.
  • Social distancing will be encouraged and dancers will remain in the same class bubble for each term. This means that dancers cannot attend a different class to make up for a missed class.
  • Dancers must sanitize when entering and exiting the studio. A Sanitation station is provided at the doorway.
  • Dancers must wash hands thoroughly after bathroom use. This will be monitored.
  • Dancers must use proper cough and sneeze etiquette.
  • I will keep attendance with specific dates and times of each dancer, in case we need this information for contact tracing.
  • If dancers experience a cough, fever or sickness of any kind they must stay home from class. This includes a cold, sore stomach, throwing up within 24 hours of class, headache or any other form of sickness.
  • If I experience a cough, fever or sickness of any kind I will cancel classes.
  • I am spacing my classes 10-15 minutes apart so there are fewer people in contact, and for sanitation purposes between classes.
  • In between classes, I will sanitize the high traffic touch areas, including the bathroom.
  • It’s important for dancers to arrive on time and be picked up on time. Dancers cannot enter the Studio early, they must wait outside until I am finished sanitizing and give them notice to enter. There are no exceptions as in past. Please come on time, not early. We can no longer allow cross contamination.
  • In the case of a possible shut down due to COVID-19, I will be offering Zoom classes in place of face-to-face classes.
  • The price remains the same for Zoom classes. We will easily transfer online, as I have bought Zoom and have been using it for 6 months. I feel comfortable and confident with the program, so it should be fairly seamless.
