Olivia has been training in Highland and Step Dance at the MacArthur School of Dance for the past 15 years, since she was 4 years old. She also took lessons in ballet, tap, jazz in her young years at CBSA, and took Hip Hop and Contemporary at the MacArthur Studio for 5 years.
Olivia is one of the most successful Highland Dancers in the world, having won the World Championships in the Junior age category in 2023 in Dunoon, Scotland – at the Cowal Highland Gathering. Olivia is the first dancer from Cape Breton, and first Nova Scotia born Highland Dance, to win a Highland Dance World Title . In July of the same year, she won the Canadian Championships, held in Halifax, NS, in front of her home crowd. She also won the Nova Scotia Championship Title, Atlantic Canadian Title, and Commonwealth Champion Title in the same year. 2023 was a huge success for Olivia and Kelly, conquering all their goals!!!
Olivia has been a member of Team Nova Scotia for 9 years, representing her Province at the Canadian Championships held all over Canada. Olivia has won Championship and Runner-Up Title in the top 6 at every Championship in the Maritimes, and has made the top 6 line up many times at the National and International level. In 2022, she won the SDTA Senior Scholarship. She is a touring member of the award winning professional dance troupe, the MacArthur Dancers, and has toured throughout Canada and Scotland performing and competing. During this time, the MacArthur Dancers won three Canadian Choreography Challenge titles, and placed top 3 in Canada at every other event.
Olivia graduated from RHS with Honours with Distinction in Advanced French Immersion, earning her French Fluency Diploma. She is currently attending Cape Breton University, studying her Bachelor of Science Degree.
Olivia passed her Associate Teaching Certification with Distinction from the RSOBHD (Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dance) in Scotland this past summer. She is a welcome addition to our teaching staff at the Studio again this year – she has been teaching with us for the past few years. Olivia will be teaching at the North Sydney location.
